  1. I had no idea that every three and a half seconds someone was deing because of hunger and that food scarcity isnt caused by the growing population, its because people cant afford to buy it.

  2. i agree with amanda. i believe that if the population is extremely large and all the people cannot afford food, they should dramatically lower or get rid of prices, but give out enough food per person, that way people will not die from starvation.

  3. Food aid in poor places can actually harm the economy

25,000 people die every day of hunger

  4. My names Amanda Neil & I also agree with Amanda . It is pretty scary that people are dieing every 3 &a half second ; it's also sad that people can't afford to buy food and take care of themselves.

  5. I didnt know about all the people who die everyday due to not having enough food. i also thought that people died of hunger because there wasn't enough food for them, not because they couldnt afford the food.
I agree with tim; If so many people can not afford food, the price of food should be cut, untill everyone can have enough money to buy it.

  6. its so sadd that the majority of people dying of hunger are children. They are helpless and if anything parents and old supervisional citizens should help the younger/helpless more than themselves. It is hard though because they are out of food just as much as the children are. Something needs to start to help these people all around the world. There is not alot of room left for all the poeple multiplying..better yet enough food produced to feed them all :0

  7. its sad people cant afford food and if they can then there isnt even enuf.. i never knew every 3 and a half seconds some one dies thats craazzy.

  8. its very disturbing to know that over 25,000 people die every day or 18 per min from the lack of food. We as Americas have food that cost only a dollar that we can could give to everyone to feed them, but refuse because we see it as losing money. I cant imagine dying from the lack of food, what a horrible way to die.

  9. There are programs where children are given food when they go to school. Their education will help them to escape hunger and global poverty.
Some things that cause hunger are war, famine, drought, over-fishing, and poor crop yields.

  10. I agree with Anthony. I couldn't imagine starving to death. I can hardly stand one day without food let alone weeks and weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  11. My names Amanda Davis and I also agree with both Amanda's. It's hard to think that all this time such horrible things are happening without much noticed or really much care at all. It's also crazy to imagine the number of people that died from just the amount of time of TYPING this blog. Ah -_-

  12. Much notice********** lol

  13. I cant believe less than every 4 seconds somebody dies of hunger. I'm happy that they have programs to give food in exchange for work and for kids they get food when they go to school.

  14. I agree with Sarah's comment when she says that elders should help the young children dying from hunger, and I also agree when she says that it is hard for anybody to feed themselves but when we are throwing away mass quantities of food organizations should be trying to put together some sort of something that can gather all the crops going bad or not being touched and they should ship them out to where people need them most because even though the food may be over grown or close to being bad, if it is still edible they will eat it and anything can help.

  15. It's different that they get paid in food instead of money like we do here. Being without food sounds extremely hard and they go through it everyday, and i had no idea how many people died because of it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. sean T. and amanda i thought the same as you, that there wasnt enough food for everyone but thats not the case its that they cant afford it which is very sad :(

  17. The most shocking thing I learned about hunger was that even though you may not physically be starving you can still be considered malnutritioned due to lack of minerals and vitamins and stuff. I also learned that in the US almost 50% of are crops are not eating or being used.

  18. I agree with Daniel, it seems like the only to live a good life there is to recieve an education.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I didn't know that people died everyday from not having food. Also i didn't know it was so bad for children that they had to make programs to give them food.

  20. -Over the last 20 years, food production has risen steadily at over 2.0% a year, while the rate of population growth has dropped to 1.14% a year. Population is not outstripping food supply, and the argument that their is not enough food to go around is entirely illegitimate.

-About 25,000 people die every year from hunger or hunger-related deaths.

  21. wow. its sad to know tht alTeast 15 people die of starvation and malnutriton evry MIN. IT BLOWS MY MIND.. ITRS REALLY DEPRESSING.!! I DID NOT KNOW THAT THE U.S DOES NOT EVEN USE 50% OF THE CROPS... HEARS A THAUGHT...GIVE PEOPLE IN NEED OF CROPS THE PERCENT WE DONT USE

    ReplyDelete
  22. i agree with davidavi its pathetic that america does little to use their crops to help others, if used the other 50 % of our crops we be able to supple countries that have no food.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I had no idea that half the world — over 3 billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day, if you really think about how much that is in the scheme of things like really is tough

I also didnt know and thouhgt it was interesting that nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names. I knew that this was an issue with poor but I did not know that it was this common.

  24. Tashana, although it's beyond terrible the conditions people live in in thrid world countries, something needs to be done to help the people there produce their own food instead of relying on others countries to provide it for them. This way the problem will end completely instead of spreading.

  25. I think it's interesting what Abby said, the fact that even though you may not physically be starving you can still be considered malnutritioned due to lack of minerals and vitamins

Also Page made an interesting point about how often people pass away from hunger

  26. I agree with amanda davis... it truely is hard to learn about people of all ages who starve because of poverty.

  27. Around 27-28 percent of all children in developing countries are estimated to be underweight or stunted. The two regions that account for the bulk of the deficit are South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. We need to start helping these kids.

    ReplyDelete
  28. i agree with amanda garnett.. I had no idea that every three and a half seconds someone was deing because of hunger!
and i found out that Poverty is the state for the MAJORITY of the world’s people

    ReplyDelete
  29. In 2009, 14.3 percent of all persons lived in poverty. This is ridiculous thats a huge amount of peoeple.

    ReplyDelete
  30. and yea iagree with basically everyone here that we need to stop saying we r gonna help and actually do it

    ReplyDelete
  31. James's comment is stunning how 27-28 percent of all children in developing countries are estimated to be under weight

    ReplyDelete
  32. i learned that about 25,000 people die everyday of hunger or hunger related problems. I think America should do more and help these kids and adults out, because theres a lot of people dying in different country's because of the cause of poverty and the way they live

    ReplyDelete
  33. less than every four seconds someone dies of poverty and "solving world hunger" wont solve the problem because poverty will still exist and that is the main problem.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I had no clue that over 3 BILLION people that live in poverty everyday all over the country. Atleast for the the kids there trying to supply education to get them out of the poverty and hunger.

    ReplyDelete
  35. i learned that about 25,000 people die everyday of hunger or hunger related problems. Our government should step in to do more and to help with other's problems.

  37. It is very hard to believe that some people are poor enough to get paid in food instead of money. That is a luxury we take advantage of.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I learned that the number of obese people is now almost on par with the number of starving people.I also learned that most starving people live in countries with food surpluses. This shows that world poverty is the leading cause of starvation.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree with James because the sub-saharan region of africa is certainly where efforts to stop starvation must be focused.
I also agree with stephen because the education given to children will help them overcome poverty and create a better life for thier families.

  40. I couldn't even imagine that every 3 and 1/2 seconds somone dies of hunger, and that 25,000 people die per day. this is the saddest thing. I agree with Shaun.

  44. A fact i found on world hunger: Nearly one in four people, 1.3 billion - a majority of humanity - live on less than $1 per day, while the world's 358 billionaires have assets exceeding the combined annual incomes of countries with 45 percent of the world's people. –UNICEF

  45. Aaron makes a good point saying that 14.3% of all people live in pverty that is way to much.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The sad thing is that more people die from extreme pverty than form any other cause.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Two unique facts i learned were that one person every 3 and a half seconds dies of hunger caused by poverty and that the reason they starve is not that there isn't food available to them, but the do not have the money to buy themseves food.

  51. I think that shocking that a person dies ever 3 and a half seconds. Its sad that it is mostly children. I thought it was odd that providing food aid would actually hurt the economy in the long run.

  52. It is very sad how many pople die such a terible death, i could not imagine living off nothing or dirt cookies. While we hold much of the worlds wealth and become fat the rest of the world suffers and dies off. Sb out

  53. Doing this research project, i learned about poverty in south asia. I learned that south asia has the most people in poverty because of their large population and that they have the highest rate of child malnourishment in the world. Its sad that so many kids are suffering from hunger.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I learned that everyday 25,000 people die from hunger, I had no idea that many people went hungry. I also learned that in other counrties, people survive on less then a dollar a day.

  57. It is amazing that so many countries are in poverty! It was sad to find out that for the price of every missile made, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch every day for 5 years! That just shows how we should stop focusing on war and focus on people in need. A lot of families have to survive on $2.00 a day which I couldnt even get my coffee with! I cant believe "mylesssssssss" fact that in every 3 seconds someone dies of hunger
