  1. Luckily for me i was able to keep the family alive and make money, but wants had to be given up. For the family to make money the brother, mother and father all had to sacrifice education to work and make money for the family, only the youngest son was able to get an education. Including all with deciding between work and education, working on the farm and visiting the hospital cost money. What especially was hard was the wather of hurricanes and the often diease hurt the family.

  2. The ayiti cost of life game went good, the family completed their goal of happiness. It was hard keeping money and not getting sick. I failed at the 3rd world farmer game, the family died each time or it would lose people to gain money.

  3. My family died every single time that I played these games. It's sad because that's the reality in Haiti or in a 3rd world nation.

  4. I tried the game first time for "money" but my whole family ended up sick and died because I could not care for them with all my debt. The second time I tried the game for "happiness" and once again my whole family had died.

  5. When I played the Ayiti game, I could not really keep my family alive, they were miserable because I had to make them work since they kept going into debt because they all were sickly and dying. It was really hard to keep them going and I can not imagine having to actually deal with that situation trying to chose between work, school, and health. The other farming game was hard because people kept stealing my crops and animals, which made it nearly impossible to live but that game was much easier than the ayiti one because we just had to plant food and stuff and not take care of the family.

  8. "The Cost of Life" game as well as the "3rd World Farmer" were very difficult. As most games it started of easy and everyone was happy and living, but by the end everyone was unhappy/dead. It was really annoying because I kept thinking my crops were going good and I'd make a lot of money but everytime, something went bad (diarreah, bad crop seasons, civil war, etc) which made me really feel bad for the people who are living in these places. Its not a game to them its real life. :'[

  9. ABBY: I couldn't imagine living like that either! My family went into debt a lot and I had the same problem with the second game as well- my crops were constantly ruined

  18. This game just makes me appreciate that i dont live in a third world country

  19. The hardships that the families that live in third world countries go through is unbelievable. I did keep my family alive and was able to make money while they still had all the fun through teh year. None of them had an education though. Sacrifices.

  24. I played the Ayiti game for "Money" on the first time thinking it would be somewhat easy. My family died halfway through the game. Definitely a lot harder than i thought.

  25. @Keyfer:I agree the games are more difficult than i first thought.

  26. When playing the Ayiti game I found that the few opportunities open to these families were still difficult to complete. Every decision they make has a consequence and improving their lives is nearly impossible. Even beating these games is difficult, so living in these situations is on a completely different level.

  27. Anthony, I agree that all of the family members had to make sacrifices.

  28. This game taught me how much we take for granted and how lucky we are to live in a country were families can stay together.

  29. Leanna- it took me at least 11 tries to finally make money and avoid death. Wish life was like that could restart and fix mistakes, but life isnt and while we as americans complain abut little problems people of haiti fight or their lives everyday.

  30. third world farmer went much easier than that other one. Choosing which crop to plant was a pain in the butt, but as the game went on paths that the disasters followed could followed could be figured. But in real life it be very difficult to know what was going to happen the next day.

  31. this game was very hard,i feel bad for the hatians.

  32. When I played the Ayiti game at first it was very hard to keep the family alive, but after a while I was able to keep them alive for all the seasons.

  34. the ayiti game was okay at first and then we ran out of money. no one in the family could get a education cuz we coudlnt afford school. no jobs would hire my family cuz they didnt have an education. the family ended up all jus working on the farm but all got sick and died.. r.i.p ayiti familllyyy

  35. ive learned through playing these games that here in the US the work life and health is easier and more cleanlier. It was hard to keep and whole family working and healthy with very little money to start. Some people dont appreciate what they have, while others think its okay just to not help the ones who are already poor & helpless when it really should be the other way around.

  36. I also agree with Amanda . It is pretty scary that people are dieing every 3 & a half seconds ; it's also sad that people can't afford to buy food and take care of themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  37. ...and i agree with courtney ^ MIZZEOW ;0 my family pretty much ended up the same way. Its hard to be one person keeping a whole family under clean and consistant conditionsss.

  38. i agree w. sahhhhhh siroissss

  39. In Ayiti, my whole family very quickly made a lot of money, but soon after, all got sick and died.

  40. I discovered in this game that to move up you need the perfect combo of rest, education, supplies, and work. If any of these are not balanced right you will get sick or lose money. Most of my characters died after i worked for a couple seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Both games were both almost impossible to beat. I died everytime i tried to play them, so i guess it would be just as hard in real life living there.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The game was mad hard and so not fun to play:p i completly failed and ended in almost 2000 dollar debt both times and then my whole family died. first i tried to play for education and then money and neither one worked out for me.

  43. I did a horrible job of keeping my family alive in the Ayiti game. I sent the kids to school and the parents to work. Soon they got sick and had to pay for medicine and I lost all my money and had to pull the kids out of school. Everyone had to work on the farm and eventually died of sickness. I did much better on the second game by planting corn seeds and peanuts.

  44. Nick, even though I did better than you in both games, I would agree that the games were extremely hard and it would be even harder in real life to support a family in such tough conditions.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Daniel, the same thing happened to me, everyone in my family got sick and that's how i ended up losing everytime.

  46. After playing these games i realize how hard it is to be able to live and survive when you are a family in poverty. It was hard to overcome the obstacles, such as illness or bad weather, in both games. It shows how important it is for a family to stay healthy and work together

    ReplyDelete
  47. After playing both games I came to learn first hand how difficult it is to survive as a family of poverty. After playing "The Cost of Life" my family memebers ended up either dead or sick. It just shows how much easier life can be in the US.

  48. THEESE GAMES WERE EXTREAMLY DIFFICULT. AND FRUSTRATING...i can only imagine what it is like in haiti and what they go through on a daily basis.. it was hard for me to keep.. my game characters alive. ..:(

  49. Playing these game made me relize the tough times people go through in other countries just to survive. poverty, illness and bad weather were the most difficult obsticles to overcome and im very happy for what i have here.

  50. I survived 39 turns on the 3rd world farmer game. Many times i went into negative money, but most of the times i got lucky and found some way to make back the money. I played the other game for health and it was very difficult an my entire family died.

  51. I was able too keep my family alive for a little while but then I stoped makig money and they all got too sick and died. I thought that the 3rd world farmer game was difficult and I had a hard time making enough money to survive.

  52. Leanna: I had a harder time with the 3rd world farmer game.
Sarah: I agree, we dont always appreciate what we have.

  53. i beat Ayiti so many times that i cant even play it anymore but Ayiti is still the most gangsta game ever made

  54. After playing these games I have realized how good we have it here, and how many of the little thigs we take for granted. I was able to keep my family alive for a little while, but after working so hard and becoming tired, illness struck and money got tight, and they passed. The conditions some people live in are unbarable, and I now have a better understanding of it.
